Remnant Campaign For Ad Agency

I have been ask to set up a campaign for remnant ads, these ads will be delivered by a third party ad agency called adjug. They have provided us with some iframe code (see below) and i have applied this to a banner. I have chosen the HTML banner type and selected the option "Alter HTML to enable click tracking for:" to Generic HTML Banner (is this the right one).
I have selected the target as _blank and have given it a size and a weight.
I have surprised myself and got the ads from the agency to be delivered to our site, hooray!
The problem that im having is that the ads being delivered are not clickable, boooo. Nothing happened when they are click on.
Does the "Destination URL (incl. http://) " field need anything in it.
In the iFrame code the agency suggest that i replace the time stamp as determined by your ad server, does any one know what this is and where i can find it.





Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

External Javascript Banners And Click Counter Problem

Hi all,

for first sorry for my english.

I'm trying to add an external javascript banner but when I check the statistics the click counter doesn't work.

I can see the views but not the clicks (always 0).

I've added this banner as HTML banner and I've checked "Alter HTML to enable tracking of Clicks" but still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Impressions And Conversions Are Not Getting Recorded

I just found out that our local Ad server stopped recording impressions for last couple of weeks. Further investigated I found out that its not recording conversions either. I tried to run maintainance script and it gave following error:

Update: One thing I would like to mention that table ox_data_intermediate_ad is just recording clicks and value is 0 for impressions column.

Zone Chaining And Tracking

I have zone chaining working as follows:

Banners are linked to zone 1
Zone 2 has no banners linked to it
Zone 2 is chained to zone 1

When zone 2 is invoked using its invocation tags, banners from zone 1 are shown correctly. However, the impressions and clicks are tracked for zone 1 (where the banner is linked) instead of zone 2 (the zone called by the invocation tags).

What's the easiest/cleanest way to get the impressions and clicks tracked for the zone whose invocation tag is shown instead of the zone to which the banner is actually linked?

Has anyone encountered problems in running the Advertiser Video and the Website Video Reports?

Both the Advertiser Video Report and the Website Video Report fail to either bring back results, or to raise an on-screen error. In each case, a blank page is returned.

The problem has been observed on both an in-house testing environment and a similarly configured remotely hosted production environment.

We are running OpenX 2.8.2 with the openXVideoAds1.1 plugin.

Open X is hosted under CentOS release 5.4 (Final), with the latest patches applied. We are running Apache 2.2.3 and PHP 5.1.6 with eAccelerator v0.9.5.3. The database is MySQL (Client API version: 5.0.77).

Please Note: Relevant configuration files and a more detailed description of the problem have been uploaded to the bug report section of this forum.

Any assistance is resolving this issue is most deeply appreciated.

We are running OpenX 2.8.2 with the openXVideoAds1.1 plugin.

Zone Not Clicking Thru

Hello,

I setup a zone on Thursday of last week and it was clicking through. Now it seems the ad does not click though and I've created a new zone to see if maybe it was that one zone that is messed up but it doesn't seem to matter what new zone i create. The ads will not click through for any zones that I create moving forward. Also now and then i seem to get these errors :

Fatal error: Call to a member function getOffset() on a non-object in /var/www/html/openx-2.8.2-rc25/lib/pear/Date.php on line 531

Please HELP!

Advertiser Budget Instead Of Campaign

Missing Css On Iss

Statistics Disappear As Of Thursday

On Thursday morning at 4:05 am, I got the following error...

ERROR: Could not migrate aggregate bucket data from the 'ox_data_bkt_c', 'ox_data_bkt_m', 'ox_data_bkt_r' bucket table(s)

... and I have gotten it every hour since.

I am working through the forum, but my PHP and MySQL Kung FU is not strong at all. Can anyone help me restart stat tracking and hopefully recover non-migrated statistics?

Spreadsheet For Inventory Management

I want a spreadsheet that will help us match up our bookings with the inventory that we manually forecast to be available.

Perhaps a traditional inventory management system for a hotel etc may be adaptable: zones are like the products, traffic is similar to quantity available.

Ad bookings could then be entered, each one subtracting the appropriate amount of traffic off the applicable zone for the period of the booking.

Perhaps a chart could illustrate which zones had availablity over the coming month etc.

Has anyone got such a system running?

Openx And Campsite

i've found that if i build and installation of campsite on root folder, and openx in a subfolder, OpenX starts to work in a weird way, with missing graphic, javascripts not working etc...

After some research i've found that is the campsite .htaccess to create troubles. If i take out that code, openx start to work well again. How can i fix this to make them worki together? This is it's content:

Statistics Cant Show After Migrate To New Server

Hi,

I am using OpenX 2.6.4 which installed in my own server, last week I had move to a new server. No statistics record show in admin UI start from that day. The statistics data which is 1 week before, still can show in admin UI.

I had check mysql, table 'ox_data_raw_ad_impression' is ok, then I check the date-time field of last record, it show that data still collected in mysql but just can't show. So can I solve this problem?

Invocation Code Tab Not Giving Options

Error Upgrade 2.6.2 To 2.8.2

Currently I have OpenX located on an Apache 2.6.2 on Windows in a location eg .. \ Apache \ htdocs \ OX
I want to upgrade to version 2.8.2 and change location and put it in .. \ Apache \ htdocs \ AD but having operational until you perform the 2.6.2 migration properly.

For this I created the folder .. \ Apache \ htdocs \ AD and in the folder. \ Var rollover data 2.6.2 and reconfifuro config.php file to point to the correct location.
I create a DB in MySQL called AD and restored the backup 2.6.2
Run the Winzer:
1 .- OpenX 2.6.2 detected. this version can be upgraded.
2 .- User / password -> OK
3 .- Database: DB detects the new server correctly

Now come the errors:

Upgrade From Openads 2.0.11-pr1 To Openx 2.8.2 Fails

Attempting to upgrade version Openads 2.0.11 to latest OpenX 2.8.2 fails at the same spot for me every time.

When I check for a log file in the /var directory, there's a file named: openads_upgrade_2.0.11_to_2.3.32_beta_2009_11_21_06_56_22.log

I have followed the upgrade instruction exactly (including increasing the memory limit and timeout), and was able to successfully upgrade this same installation (a copy of the same database) on my laptop's development environment. My dev environment is Mac/MySQL 5/PHP 5.3, and the production environment is Linux/PHP 5.2.9/MySQL 4.1.

At this point, I'm stuck. Thankfully I'm testing with a copy of the database on a different vhost.

Any ideas? I can provide more detailed logs if needed.

Email Alerts For System Issues (e.g. Maint. Failing)

Would be nice if the admin was sent an email when the maint. script failed.... This would help the admins catch issues as they are starting to occur.

I really like the alerts to the sales people when their campaigns are about to expire/have expired.

Admin Area Working Slow In 2.8.2

Good day!

I'm running the latest version of OpenX 2.8.2 on fairly good VDS (750Mhz CPU, 1Gb RAM). The serving ads speed is enough for me (I do not
have a lot of traffic yet), but admin area is extremely slow despite the fact that load average is not higher 0,30...

Not only dashboard but any other admin area page takes 3-4 seconds to generate. I have Eaccellerator installed. The strange thing that
on this machine my other sites run good, the old Openads 2.0.11 worked on this server at the speed of light.

Iframes And Forms?

I've got a backfill campaign i want to run that's not a clickable < a href > ad, it's an actual form.

I've set it up as an iframe. The iframe draws in the form html. the end result is that the ad block should display a nice fillable form.

But when I set this up as a banner, it wants a destination url.for the ad (which is handled by the form submit button, I don't want it clickable).
Any way to set this up?

Two Backfill Campaigns

I have a variety of sites pulling ads from our openx install and am trying to set up two backfill campaigns. One is geotargetted by country, the next is 'for everyone else'. My question is how do I set this up?

Banner A: low priority, no conditoins
Banner B: low priority, geotargetted to one country only.

If I do it that way, can I be assured that for visitors in the geotargetted country, that they'll always see Banner B? i.e. will openx know to serve Banner B over Banner A to that country?

No Statistics After Fixed Crashed Index File

By suggestions in forums, I fixed crashed tables and that index file.

But a new problem come. I have been waiting for about 5 hours, but today's Statistics is still empty. Can you tell me how to sort out?

I am currently using OpenX v2.6.3 running on Apache 2.0.54, PHP 5.0.4 and MySQL 4.1.13-.

I checked ox_data_raw_ad_impression table. It contains the latest impression data. I found following info in debug.log

In maintenance page, I saw:

Scheduled maintenance hasn't run in the past hour. This may mean that you have not set it up correctly.

Mysql Replication

Hi,

i have a question about clustering with openX.

I read here that it is posible to say a openx installation the it should read from local database and write to a master database.

But i can do what i want, the second openX installation write everything in his own database.

Here the interesting part of the config:

i tried it with enalbed=0 and enabled=1 - the documentation says enabled have to set to 0, i found that a little bit strange but ok, i tried both.

The mysql replication works without problems, the master send the data to the slave, the only problem i got is the second openx installation.

Erm, Where Are My Stats?

I deleted some campaigns that I no longer needed. However, it seems to have Soviet-style gone back and deleted all stats like the campaign never existed.

Surely this can't be right, without any warning when deleting a campaign?

The campaign isn't needed anymore, but it happened then -- those ads were delivered -- so its stats should still be available surely?

Display "advertising Analysis Report" To An "advertiser

we have created an "advertiser" user for one of our Advertisers and when he goes to Statistics - > Advanced Reports, he can only see the "Campaign Analysis Report" option to generate reports.

However we would like him to ne able to have the "Advertising Analysis Report" also, as through this option he can generate a total csv for all the campaigns of the current Advertiser.

Can you help me on how we can achieve that?

Direct Selection - With Zoneid And Keyword

Hello is it possible to select a zone with direct selection and set as second argument a keyword which should exclude certain banner from a category?

Installing Openx 2.8.2 - Failed To Create Temporary Table

Hi,

We've been installing OpenX 2.8.2 and have had the following error at stage 4, the database section:-

Failed to CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE - check your database permissions 
Insufficient database permissions or incorrect database settings to install.

The only way we've been able to proceed past this stage is by setting the database up under root. I'm not sure if this is a good idea? Can anyone advise pls?

The installation wizard suggests that temporary tables only need to be created at the set up stage - so does that mean, once installed we can change db users? And if so, how would we do this and what would the implications of doing this be when its time to upgrade?

We upgraded from 2.4 to 2.8 recently. Everything works fine expect that Community Statistics and your statistics
are not showing up. It was working before the upgrade. I went through the forums and came across a thread where it said GD support
should be enabled and memory limit should be 128 M. I have both of them but still the graphs are not showing up.

Can anyone please guide me to solve this issue?

Fix For Contracted Campaigns

I'm either committing suicide or going back to phpadsnew, and both will be painful non-solutions.

I'm out of words to describe the fact that there is just no way of having meaningful delivery of contracted campaigns with 2.8.1.

I am scared of 2.8.2 as that instllation seems to come with another full set of problems.

I tried this patch (https://developer.openx.org/fisheye/changelog/openx?cs=38967) but i am still having the kinds of delivery problems that have been mentioned on this forum over and over.

Is there some sort of manual fix?

I am extremely desperate at this point. It's hard to understand that most basic needs for ad delivery are not being met.

I've downloaded the OPENX files, extracted them and ftp'd them to my server. I've chmod with the permissions s requested. While running the install wizard, the wizard showed that permissions needed to be done to 3 files. I backchecked the files and they do not exist in the OPENX download either on my computer or the files uploaded to the server.

I'm willing to start from scratch, but need to know where I can get a complete download for OPENX.

Hi all and thank you developers for your great tool!

I've just upgraded from 2.0.11-pr1 version to 2.8.2 (yes I know it's quite late :-). It's all right with the new version besides one annoying problem which is talked a lot about on this forum: I'm getting the "Error: File permission errors have been detected, and must be fixed before you can continue." all the time and it can't be solved by chmod command execution because it comes back after a while.

I've red advices in this topic and have been changed whole OpenX distribution folder's owner to www-data (my Apache process's user) as well as reconfigured maintenance script to be ran under www-data user.

Despite of this I'm getting same error still. As I've been investigated there is new file with incorrect permissions which appears in cache folder anyway:

I'm curious if there's specs on how a fla file needs to be set up inorder for Open X to pick up on the hard link in the swf file. I have two flash ads on different sites. One Open X picked up that there was a link and asked to convert it. The other, it didn't (and yes, the box was checked to look for the links).

I'm not a flash person, but I'm guessing there's more than one way to add a link when building a flash movie... I'd like to find out the requirements Open X has so I can pass it on to advertisers.

Does Openx Work With Network Banners?

I currently trying to find a solution to track banner impressions and clicks as an affiliate.

We currently take banners from 2 networks, Cheeze/DGM and Manningotlieb. These guys have their own ad serving platforms which advertisers load their banners into and then us, as an affiliate take the banners complete with the networks JS tags etc.

We aren't allowed to manipulate the tags in any way but we would like to record our own impression and click data somehow. Just to re-iterate we can't put traffic through a bounce page or anything like that, the tag has to stay intact.

Someone suggested OpenX but as i understand it, OpenX is ad serving if your an advertiser right? Not an affiliate. Or, does it have the capability to load these 3rd party network banner tags which has loads of JS and stuff like that, not just a basic banner.

That's why we've got some questions related to this subject:

- How to delete the history of deactivated campaigns (e.g. campaigns inactive for 3 months)?
- How to delete the history of campaigns that don't exist anymore (campaigns that have already been deleted)?
- How to delete the complete history of every campaign while deleting a company (is there any plugin for that operation)?
- How to delete the history of a company's campaign that has already been deleted (is there any plugin for that operation, code sql)?

Is Some Maintenance Done When The Script Times Out/runs Out Of Memory?

I have a 2.6 installation, and haven't been paying much attention to it for a while. It turns out that some tables have had errors for several months and no maintenance has been run. I've repaired the tables, but now I have so much maintenance to do that even by raising the timeout/memory limit it won't complete, (PHP runs out of memory).

Each time I start the maintenance script, and it runs out of memory and fails, does it process *some* of the raw data so that there's a little less to do next time, or does maintenance start again from zero every time?

Due to this error I'm not able to access OpenX Market's configuration, because the same exact message appears when I click the "OpenX Market Settings" link under "OpenX Market Quickstart" tab. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Im using openX to deliver my banners in 1and 1 WEBSHOSTING.
Im delivering ads using iFrame tags since JS seens to slow down the loading of my site' pages. Im using theOpenX version 2.8(LATEST). Have 3 banners at a time in my pages (2 300x250 ads,1 468x60 ads)

every time I open my blog (www.tellytube.in) I get an "Access Denied" error from the afr.php file, like this one:

I have 6 different zones. All are 728x90. I have 6 different paid advertisors. I would like them to all change zones on each page change or refresh. Not sure how to do this. Also, I will be adding more advertisors, but only for these 6 zones. How will I get say 10 advertisors to equally go to 6 zones.

Statistics Tab - Banners Broken Down By Websites Do Not Work

After logging in to adserver.openx.org, I've noticed a problem with the statistics tab.

To reproduce:
Create a banner that is associated with multiple websites (one or more zones on each site).
Accumulate some hits on more than one of these sites for that banner.
Go to the statistics tab.
Click on the "Advertisers & Campaigns" sub-tab.
Expand out to your banner.
Click on the banner.
Click on "Website Distribution".

Expected Result: Statistics showing the distribution of results across the websites with which the banner is associated.
Actual Result: A blank response (More specifically, an HTTP 500 Server Error).

In general, the server uptime for OpenX.org services is pretty bad - at least 2-3 times a week the account management service or statistics service goes down. That may or may not be related to this error - it could be entirely temporary - but just in case it's a configuration issue on your side I figure I'd better let y'all know.

Can't Link Ads To Zone

I just setup OpenX. I've created advertiser, website, uploaded banner and setup zones. When I go to Zones and click "Linked banners" I see two drop-downs. I select "Link banners by parent campaign" and after the page refreshes I expect to see an advertiser in the drop-down below but it isn't there. I went ahead and created another advertiser, but alas, the same result.

What am I doing wrong? The demo presentation, although a bit outdated, confirms that I am taking the right steps. I'm a bit at a loss now.

Adding Additional Geotargeting Databases

I have enabled geotargeting and it works fine with the pre-installed .dat file from MaxMind. However, when I try to add additional .dat files from MaxMind (to enable city-based targeting, for example) I can't get it to work. I have uploaded the .dat file and specified the relative URL path in the settings section of the oxMaxMindGeoIP plugin, but when I go to geotargeting in global settings the new database doesn't show up. I'm guessing either I'm specifying the path wrong or the geotargeting global settings are not checking back with the plugin to get the new databases. Any ideas?

Mixing Google Adsense & Another Ad Agency

I have just been running straight google adsense ads that make me between 30$-50$ per day...I was approached by another company (24/7 Real Media) to put their inventory on my pages..They are on a CPM model.

Is there a way that I can setup my OpenX to use both banners running but prioritize Google and possibly run the 24/7 ads when a user has seen the google ads over 4x (Where they would be unlikely to click) ?

Administrator Account Missing

Hi,
Upgraded to Openads a while ago and never used it much. Today I realized I was not logged in as administrator and did not know the administrator login info. I looked in the database and found that phpads_accounts table had Administrator as an account_name but phpads_users had no user named Administrator so I manually added it and changed the default_account_id to match the one in the accounts table. I am able to log in as administrator now.
My questions are:
- will doing it this way cause any problems?
- what is the proper way to make an administrator?
- what happened to the original administrator user? was there supposed to be one?

Contract Campaigns Dysfunctional After 2.8.2 Upgrade

Ok guys, this is getting ridiculous. After a nice long run without major issues in 2.8.1, I upgraded to the new 2.8.2 to get improved contract campaign performance, and suddenly all my clients are complaining that their ads aren't performing. A quick look at my stats proves that they are correct. I use OpenX for the contract campaign engine. If I just wanted to use remnant campaigns, I'd write my own ad server. At the moment, I could target ad impressions better by hand using Excel and a Texas Instruments calculator. WHAT HAPPENED?

Prime example:

Campaign #474 launched on 11/17 and is scheduled to deliver 10,000 ad impressions by 11/21.

Do the math: that's 2,000 ad impressions per day.

Campaign 474 has banners displayed across 16 different zones that got a combined total 36,588 ad impressions yesterday. Zone #4 got 11,306 impressions or 31% of the total.

By this math, Campaign 474 should have tried to get 618 impressions from zone #4 (31% of 2000) yesterday. Instead it got 23!

So far campaign 474 has delivered 308 impressions. 236 yesterday and 72 so far today. At this rate, 474 will under-deliver for my client by 85% - 90%. Luckily I have a remnant campaign in place to make me look like I have a brain.

Zone #4 meanwhile is all about remnant campaigns! A quick check of the probability shows that remnant campaigns are currently allotted 96.64% of total impressions in the zone, while banner 1419 (from campaign 474) has a probability of 0.37%.

Any high school student with a calculator could tell you that banner 1419 in zone 4 should have a probability of 5.5%! Where the MPE came up with 0.37% is anyone's guess.

Gentlemen, what in the hell happened? Last time we went around this sage bush, it turned out that your OpenX market plugin was crashing my maintenance script and causing my campaigns to do improbable things. I'm trying to figure out what new feature broke the basic functions of OpenX THIS time?

Banners Stop Showing

I have 3 banners, all iFrame, that are display in one single page.
couple days ago, two of then just stop working.
They are basic the same variation of Google adds, two are 120x240 and one is 468x60

I didn't change anything on OpenX, nor on my server, neither on the page.

it was working for years, went trought many updates and the latest one, done couple months ago, was the:
You are currently using OpenX v2.8.1 running on Apache 2.2.13, PHP 5.2.9 and MySQL 5.1.30-.

I'm doing the update to 2.8.2 right now, but I don't see why it will fix it.

Any other ideas?

Multiple Banners Formats Per Zone

I can not use the * Format as we have several formats per campaign so i would also show content ads and syk scrapers etc..

is there a way to get this done, as i have surfed all day long but could not find a solution for it.

Apache2 Configs For Openx

Hello!

We are running OpenX as distributed architecture but as it's a general question I'm posting this not in the subforum but here in the main configuration area.
Currently we have 2 admin boxes (1 as backup) and 5 delivery boxes.
Of those 5 delivery boxes, 4 are Xen-instances (3 CPUs, 6 GB RAM) and 1 is a baremetal server (8 CPUs, 16GB RAM).
We are serving 8-10 Million Impressions a day, but it's going to be a lot of more soon.

For now the Xen servers have a CPU load peak of 60%, the baremetal server has a peak of 20%.
I investigated that the CPU load is mainly made by the apache2 processes.

So I opened this thread to compare Apache configs.
I'll give you some options we are using for now, which I think are important regarding the performance. If you need further informations, feel free to ask! And if anyone has tips on how to optimize the settings, it'd be appreciated.

No Stats At All Driving Me Clueless

First of all, thank you for helping.

I installed OpenX using Fantastico -- and then found that I had to install the plug-ins separately -- finally got the ads working! Now, I discover there are no stats -- it's 18 days since I installed so there have to be some stats!

I get a message that says "There are currently no statistics available for the period 01-11-2009 to 18-11-2009".

Where can I start solving this problem?

Is it possible to have daily campaign statistics aggregated by publisher? What I need is the combination of the below two existing functions while fetching the statistics over the web service.

o campaignDailyStatistics : This gives daily statistics for a campaign for a specified period.
o campaignPublisherStatistics : This give publisher statistics for a campaign for a specified period

As a work around though, I could call campaignPublisherStatistics function for each day of the campaign’s running period but that would involve more time and hence process at our end might run overtime.

Error When Visiting Openx Market Under My Account

When I access the OpenX Market section under My Account (OpenX hosted) I receive the following error:

To access OpenX Market from here, please log out from all other OpenX services by clicking the link below. Then log back in with the account used by this OpenX installation to sign up for OpenX Market.
Log out of all other OpenX services and go to the OpenX login page.

No amount of following the link or clearing of cookies allows me to access the page. I note that this error message is shown within a frame, which has the following URL: https://pc.openx.com/error/service-not-acti...6c-af16d5e92a46 Note the path in the URL is service-not-activated. I can't find anywhere where I'm supposed to activate my account for OpenX Market if that's actually relevant.

Two Questions About Ecpm Prioritization

The eCPM prioritization is a fantastic feature. I've got a few questions regarding this:

- eCPM calculation. I noticed the eCPM amount in the campaign's details page. I calculated by running the stats, it doesn't match either current month eCPM or life time eCPM. I'm just wondering how OpenX 2.8 is calculating this value?

- New remnant campaign eCPM. Since all new campaigns will start off with an eCPM 0, how much impressions will be allocated to this campaign before eCPM prioritization is taking place?

We linked one remnant campaign (eCPM=0) to a zone and it's the only one, the ad doesn't seem to show up. What's the reason behind it?

hi, im a newby in openX.

i work on a network and am trying to make a test on this tool...

i created an advertiser, a campaign and HTML tags for banners such as this one:

Lomadee, uma nova espécie na web. A maior plataforma de afiliados da América Latina

then, i created a publisher and a 728x90 zone for this banner, and assosiated the banner to the zone, still the probability of the only banner to be shown is still 0%, and I made a test on the invocation code and nothing happened.

what am i doing wrong?
should I modify something in the Tag?
modifications on the invocation code before testing it?

please, can anyone help me?

Priority Level

I have a huge problem with banner delivery.

I set geolocated campaigns to a higher priority level, otherwise contracted amount are not met. I only use one zone.

However, the system goes crazy and shows in a few days the amount of ads that should be shown in months.

I'd be very grateful for any help.

I use the current version of Openx.

I was using the "Estimated End Date" function a lot in 2.6 for trying to see when an exclusive campaign ended, but now it's gone in the new 2.8. Guess it was a plugin that's been removed? Anyone know where to find it for free?

Openx Re-installation? Same Version Upgrade?

I have a problem with OpenX. We're trying to package this internally and are having difficulties.

We're running 2.8.2, at present, and want to have a way to blow away the installation and re-install it, keeping the database.

It appears that during an upgrade, if OpenX detects the previous version was the same (if we put the .conf.php file into var/ again) it does not do a complete installation. After the installation the plugins appear to not function, and there is a big red box on the plugins page. No errors were shown during the installer, however.

If we try to install, we have to do this from a fresh database (the installer refuses to use the same DB/table prefix if it's there already).

Is there a way I can have an upgrade from identical versions do-the-right-thing and extract the plugins but use the same database? Is this not supported, and if so, should the installer not tell me that?

Is there filesystem state stored in the plugins we'll be missing if we simply re-extract them?

Would we break things horribly if we dropped the database, did an install, and then restored it?

An example use case of this would be if someone "lost" the directory it was installed into, but had an archived copy of the config file, and the database was still valid. What would be the way to get this installation working again?

Question About Renaming Folders After Update?

I just updated my openx from 2.8.0 to 2.8.2
everything went as according to the page on upgrading explains, but I am a little confused now.
the last thing is to rename the new folder with the name of the old folder.

However, at the end of the process the wizard opened up my openx before I changed the names of the folder.
Did the wizard move the files to the folder that I have been using? I renamed the folders and couldn't get a log in page?
also, how do you tell what version you are using? I can't see any information (about openx) or logo showing the version number.

I renamed my folders back and everything is working again, but have no idea what version I am actually running.

Statistics Are Missing

HI there. I've been experiencing problems with Openx 2.8.2 since my associate installed it. All of the plugins were missing. I found the link to download them, got them all uploaded and seemingly installed correctly. However, I still cannot get any stats to come up at all. I've searched the forum and I'm not finding what it seems I need to do. The information I am finding seems greek to me, and I'm not sure from reading exactly what I'm looking for or doing / or if the information provided truly was an accurate fix. Dingbat over here and new to this. :-)

Anyhow... Can anyone tell me specifically what to look for and what to do with my missing stats? It says the maintenance log is empty, too. I'm not sure if maintenance has actually been run or not. I'm using PHP 5.2.11 and Openx 2.8.2.

This free plugin adds a new item to the Statistics section, that displays the global history statistics of the last year in the form of a graph. There are zoom controls on the graph that enable the user to look at specific time frames.

Some Banners Are Not Redirected

Both of them have for Weight 1 and a probability of 50% with no limitation.

Very Confusing

I have suffered from major problems with 2.8.2, so I thought 'let's install again from scratch'...
I already couldn't find 2.8.2 online, so I downloaded the presented 2.6.2 version. So far so good.
Entering full admin mode after setup caused a popup screen, saying that I have to updgrade to 2.8. Clicked on the update button and to my surprise this 2.6.2 shows up again (see attachement).

Points To Remember On Shifting Domains

I am posting this here, in the hope that it would assist someone in the future ::

We recently shifted our ad server from domain1.com to domain2.com . To allow all users of the ad server to port over, we decided to support both domains for a few days. Now, we have an issue. It's so that the impressions and clicks are recording; but not the conversions.

The problem was, that the tracking pixels placed on our advertisers' thank-you pages still call from domain1.com , whereas the impressions & clicks call from domain2.com . Since, cookies are bound to a domain, the click-to-conversion-map fails thus not recording any conversions. Having the tracking code call from domain2.com solved the problem.

Hence, for shifting the ad server from one domain to another, please remember to -

Create a corresponding OpenX configuration file.
Have all the publishers call from the new domain.
Have all the advertisers embed the tracker code from the new domain.

Var And Images File Permission Errors On Installation.

Hi Guys,

I'm in!

I wish I could tell you the exact action I took that eventually solved this file permission problem for me but in all honesty I can't pin it down to one particular action.

I didn't do anything clever, I just looked at the error messages and went through every folder that was listed (and file that was writeable) and chmoded to 777. Although I had already done this at least half a dozen times (or thought I had) I found that there were some files that I hadn't changed. I even changed the file permisson on the readme files.

(I've probably rendered my installation unstable in the process - but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. At least I'm up and running.)

When I refreshed the page, low and behold I got all green ticks! Dio C'e.

I don't know how useful this post is going to be to you, because I'm sure you've already tried this; I can only sat that in my case it was user error.

Maybe you can take courage from this.

In openX when adding a new campaign I see the follow headers:

1. Pricing
-Pricing Model (options: CPM, CPC, CPA and Tenancy)
-Rate/Price
-Impressions

2. Maximize Ad revenue
-Allow OpenX Market to show ads for this campaign if it beats the CPM below (RECOMMENDED)(CHECKBOX)
-Serve an ad from OpenX Market if it pays higher than this CPM $ USD

These are the questions that I am confused about:
1. What is the difference between CPM, CPC, CPA and tenancy? (What do they stand for?)
2. Do I need to set both "Pricing" and "Maximize Ad revenue" when adding a campaign to the market?
3. Would the below example be correct?

EXAMPLE:
If I set "pricing" to the following does it mean, A advertiser will pay me $5.00 for 1000 ad impressions?

-Pricing Model: CPM
-Rate/Price: $5.00
-Impressions: 1000

4. Would the below example be correct?

EXAMPLE:
If I set "Maximize Ad Revenue" to the following does it mean, A advertiser will pay me $0.0001 everytime an ad gets an impression?

My Calculation:
0.10 (market needs to beat) / 1000 impressions = 0.0001 per ad impression, so it would take 1000 impressions at this rate to earn $0.10. Am I correct?

Facebook App Ad Management With Openx Community Download?

Hi, I am new to OpenX and recently saw that OpenX Community Hosted allows me to manage inventory for Facebook apps.

Is this same functionality available for OpenX Community Download? As I understand it, OpenX Community Hosted will not allow me to do the same level of customization that I can do on a self-installed implementation, and so hopefully OpenX Community Download allows for Facebook app ad management.

Any advice/input would be very helpful.

Html Ads Not Working!

I've tried everything, and I can't run HTML ads.

No matter what code I put in the HTML area, it won't show up on the website, only in the preview of the ad. Even putting there plain text doesn't work.

Is it a known issue of openX or am I doing something wrong?

Invocation Code Page Not Showing - Blank

Hello,

I did a fresh install of the latest version of OpenX last week. All thinks appear to work ok, I added some advertisers and campaigns, created two zones and pasted invocation codes in my site. For a couple of days, everything was working without problems and it actually still does (banners display at specified priorities, etc), except of one thing that went wrong when I tried to add another zone to my site today.

I suddenly can't access the zone invocation code (zone-invocation.php) anymore (for any zone I try...even tried to create new ones). The admin header navigation and left menu display ok, but the content area is blank. The screenshot can be seen here (it's slovenian language, however the ''Invocation code'' tab is selected under the Zone):

All the other things work OK (the banners display properly in the zones that are already linked with my site).

I tried to run some maintance scripts and cache refresh but without success, I still can't access the invocation codes.

Having Installation Problems

I have followed the guidelines for installation.

I have php 5.2.10 and MySQL 5.0.81

I have installed several programs already with PHP and MySQL and have not had issues.

I have uploaded the file named openx, and chmod the files it asked to 777 but I am getting the following error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@voogah.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any help would be appreciated!!
