hello guys,

i am new to openx, and first of all i must say, openx is propably most advanced software for ad management. but.

there is big BUT.

after playing around with openx for 4 hours, i was not able to set up a simple thing, like:

to have 2 campaings, where one would be run on website 1 a and second campaign tun on website 1 and 2.
this simple task took me 4 hours, and i still a dont understand how this thing works.

am i stupid? i dont think so.

is openx absolutely confusing? is openx totally user UNFRIENDLY? i think YES.

guys, are you nuts? you ever think what you are doing? openx is one of most complicated most confusing most messed up software i ever used.

what about that "ID" all over the aplication? wtf? what to hell? who cares about some "ID"??? you guys try to realize that we are not PROGRAMMERS but USERS. try not to be PROGRAMMERS GEEKS, but try to image how normal user, mainly owner of the website, or marketing manager, would think. there is milions nice, good looking, easy to use aplication all over the internet. try to inspire. your aplication is the most USER-UNFRIENDLY software.

what about that left column??? wtf? i never seen something so confusing like your left column.

why are Advertisers & Campaigns Publishers & Zones into one section Invetory??? and why are there also Direct selection
User Access??? where is logic behind this? where is logic anywhere in your aplication? you mixed up apples with potatoes.

propably you should go outside, breathe some fresh air and come back and completly rebuild the user interface. because there is no need to implement new features. nobody use them anyway. so, please try to think about it.

good luck.

hai haluzman,

we can understand your problem as a beginner and openx is a little bit advanced. You can make openx very much user friendly in both function and in interface. Now we are working to achieve that. Our development team works on several mods for making openx a user friendly sottware and we have developed a lot of mods for openx.

if u want any help contact us at: info@openxmods.com

our site is http://www.openxmods.com/

thank you...

Hi,

The user interface is something we are working hard to improve. We have taken some steps in the recent 2.5-beta and future development will have many more advancements. We want to make it as easy to get around as possible.

People using OpenX have many different wishes and needs, and we do need to fit this all in to a good layout/interface. I agree the left column does not provide much benefit until you're very used to it, and still it could be much more useful.

The ID column is useful for users who want it, but there should definitely be alternative ways of sorting information - which there will be!

We have also created Quick Start guides and tutorials to try and get new users started - please give us any feedback on how these worked for you
