Hi all,

As you have probably seen already in this announcement, OpenAds 2.0.10 introduces a new feature called Google AdSense Click-Tracking.

A lot of publishers and webmasters will be delighted to use this, but I'd like to point out that is does require generating new invocation code for your website(s), if you happen to use Remote Invocation for Frames.

When generating invocation code for Remote Invocation For Frames, there is a new setting "Include code to track Google AdSense clicks", set to Yes be default. When you generate the code, there is a new line just below the frame invocation code reading like this:
CODE
<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='http://{URL removed}/adg.js'></script>

This script contains the code to catch the clicks on Google AdSense ads.

Please note that you need to go to the banner definition page and enable the setting "Alter HTML to enable tracking of AdClicks" (set to ON/Checked). Don't forget to click the Save button.

Please note too, as described in the announcement, that the AdSense code is not altered to achieve click tracking. The wording is perhaps somewhat confusion and it is perhaps a good idea for the developers to make a change in that text in the next release.

Have fun with this new toy!

Erik

(edit: added extra emphasis on the fact that this applies only to remote invocation for frames)

You're right, but I'd like to add that remote iframe invocation codes are the only one that have been upgraded. Other invocation types are not changed and old invocation codes will start tracking clicks on Google AdSense banners.

Thank you for that note, I'll change that in my post in order to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

No, that's not possible. This feature is to do with tracking clicks, not limiting them!

No, that is not what this is for.

Google AdSense click tracking means that OpenAds is now capable of counting how often someone has clicked an AdSense ad being delivered through OpenAds.

I've been looking for a way to limit clicks on adsense for months!
I've found on this page
http://www.tech-faq.com/google-adsense-stats.shtml
the Contextual Tracker that blocks clicks only on IE
it is too big of a problem to be left aside, please let us know if you develop or discover anything (from google?)
