Using Keywords for Banner Selection
Question: How do I setup OpenAds to use Keywords to select banners to display in a zone?
Answer: How-to Instructions Below

ZONE TAB
  1. Setup the zones you want to use on the site.
  2. Naming a zone. Use descriptive names, examples:
    SectionName:Skyscraper,
    SectionName:Header,
    SectionName:Footer, etc.
  3. Description field details. Use descriptive names, example:
    120x600 location, SectionName
468-728x60-90 location, SectionName (note the numbers are the sizes of banners allowed in that zone)
    468x90 location, SectionName
    300x250 location, SectionName
  4. Size field. You'll want to use a custom size, which will require the use of the "*" in both the height and width fields.
  5. Click "Save Changes"
ADVANCED TAB
  1. We do nothing under this tab, unless you need to.
  2. Click "Save Changes"
LINKED BANNER TAB
  1. From the "Please choose the type of linking banners" drop down menu you'll want to select "Keyword."
  2. In the text box below that, you'll enter the keywords you want to use for this zone. Examples:
    leaderboard,skyscraper
    leaderboard,standard
    468x60,728x90,250x60
You can use any combination of keywords, just make sure to use a comma to seperate them.
  3. Click "Save Changes"
Banner Properties
Go to the banners properties tag for an advertiser.
  1. Under the "Banners Properties" tag you will enter into the Keyword field the names of the Keywords you used in the zone.
  2. Example: Say you have a 728x90 size banner. In our case, we used the keyword "leaderboard" for that banner size. Therefore, in this banners keyword field, we would enter "leaderboard", this would ensure that any zones that has the keyword "leaderboard", this banner would show in that zone.
  3. If have other banners sizes that also need to be displayed in a zone, you can setup those in the same fashion. Example: We have a zone that will show both 468x60 (standard) and 728x90 (leaderboard) banners. Therefore, in the zone that will display these ads, we have used the keywords, "leaderboard, standard". Now under the "banner properties" tag, we will use these same keywords for the zones the keyword field, "leaderboard standard". But notice, we are not using a comma, but rather a space to separate them.

I hope I have covered the basis. If I have overlooked anything, please reply to the discussion forum below with your tips and I'll add them to this How-to.
