I have MaxMind country geotargeting database. I uploaded it to my server, set in the setting the path to the base.
BUT now I cannot select Geo - Country banner delivery limitations, as it is not there! Why is it so? I can't use geotargeting options Last OpenX 2.6.4 |

Hi antonrubl,
What path did you specify for the geotargeting file/database? |

I had posted a problem in another thread, but I realized that I needed to set the path in the plugins section for 2.8. Unfortunately I can't get the GeoLiteCity.dat file to be recognized. I've tried every path combination I can think of, including absolute path (/home/user/public_html/openx/plugins/GeoTargeting/oxMaxMindGeoIP/data/GeoLiteCity.dat) but it still doesn't show up in the delivery options.
What am I missing? |

What am I missing? I think this is a common issue, users find it hard to figure out what path to enter to point oxMaxMindGeoIP at the new .dat file. The easiest solution I've been able to find is:
Unfortunately and I think this is a bug, OpenX does not report if there's a problem if the path to the added data file is invalid. |

I've tried this. I am certain the path is correct. I don't understand why nobody seems to know nothing about this? ANYbody from OpenX? anybody at all?
My whole business model is pretty much at a stand still until this is resolved. |

I installed the openXDeliveryLogCountry plugin to have geotargeting Country data logged in the database and everything is being logged as US (United States). The geotargeting appears to not work 100% of the time. This appears to confirm it. Ads set to only show in US show in every country. Ads set to only show in Argentina, Greenland, or the U.K. show in the United States. They show everywhere. I've confirmed this with multiple country proxies.
There are multiple posts throughout the forum discussing the broken geotargeting, but a fix doesn't appear to exist. Can the OpenX crew please specify the last version of OpenX where geotargeting worked properly? If I have to downgrade or install a fresh version for just that purpose, I'll do so. Alternatively, is there a patched or recommended trunk version (v2.8.2) which has resolved this? Finally, is this an officially confirmed known issue? Update: Fresh installing the latest Release Candidate (v2.8.2 RC18) http://download.openx.org/openx-2.8.2-rc18.tar.gz (dated Aug 14, 2009) made no difference. I thought it might after reading this closed issue |
