Guys, picture this for a moment:
Imagine the 'OpenX' market as a Retailer.. say, Walmart. Now, Imagine yourself as one of Walmart's providers of, say, lingerie. Now, think about the above scenario and ask yourself what did make 'Walmart' the most succesful retailer in the history of mankind? Walmart does NOT charge a $1000 security deposit to anyone entering their premises! otherwise, they will have no customers! why would I want to sell to Walmart as a wholesaler in such scenario? OpenX people. with all due respect, your executive team doesn't have a clue on what they are doing. If you make OpenX Market widely accesible and OPEN, every single openX enabled 'website' can use your 'market' as a self service tool to have their customers sign in for advertising, thus making you a 'broker' and effectively charging a small comission per transaction. For this to work, you need a micropayment platform, you can partner with paypal (initially) while you develop your own. Your current business model focuses on attracting 'buyers' (agencies, ad networks) however, you missed the fact that, your best strategy is to have your OWN OpenX customers attract those customers! You could have two types of buyers in OpenX Market: 1) The one that comes looking for 'bulk' impressions or 2) The one that comers looing to buy invetory on a 'specific' website. You could have something like openxmarket.org/somedomain.com which will be a 'custom' page specific to somedomain.com as a frontend to sell advertising on that speciifc site. Executives of OpenX, investors, managers and Directors... you don't have a clue on how to run a business!!! you have a gold mine in your hands, yet, don't have a strategy in place to make the most out of it. Have a good night people. |

Have a good night people. This is interesting and I kind of agree... Why are there so many hurdles to jump for someone to pay money to advertise on my website? The success of adsense/adwords is in part because it is so simple for a website with some advertising money to fill in a form and advertise on a site with minimal hassle. They shouldn't have to email and pay a minimum fee to join the club... well ok maybe google has a minimum $5 spend but thats fair enough. Any news on the new interface making it easier for advertisers as mentioned in the FAQ? they mention early 2009. |

if it will be too open, too many people will exploit that, showing misleading ads, malicious code, and something like that...
