I've been using OpenX for a couple years, and this is something that I've never understood. (I'm currently using OnRamp)
The situation: - 1 zone in an email newsletter - 1 banner is assigned to that zone - the banner is inside an exclusive campaign I would expect that banner to show up 100% of the time, right? There are no other banners, and no limitations. Why does this banner only show up sometimes? (the other times it shows nothing at all) How can I get 1 banner to show up in 1 zone, 100% of the time? (you'd think that would be the most basic thing OpenX could do) I've heard that it's good to always assign a remnant banner, so that it can calculate probabilities correctly. Should I also assign a remnant banner to that zone? (so there would be 1 exclusive, and 1 remnant. I could duplicate the banner so the remnant and exclusive are exactly the same). Thanks! |

Is there a reason why you cannot make that campaign remnant? Does it have to be exclusive? |

Is there a reason why you cannot make that campaign remnant? Does it have to be exclusive? I suppose I could do that. But I have no way of knowing if it actually worked. (that's why I'm asking here) I'd like to be able to show 1 banner in 1 zone, and have it appear 100% of the time (never empty). What's the official OpenX way of doing that? |

If a zone has remnant campaign with banners that match it (no delivery limitation preventing a match), then it will deliver 100%, never empty. you can test it out by switching zone type from email to regular banner and get the invocation code for iframe tag and repeatedly reload the request on a browser. Or leave it as email type and use it on some test emails to your own email ids. |

I'll give that a try -- I'll change that campaign from "exclusive" to "remnant", and make sure that banner is the only one assigned to that zone. Thanks for your help, rakshan. |

Just a quick follow-up:
This strategy appears to be working. I have 1 banner (in a "remnant" campaign), assigned to 1 zone. And (so far) it's appearing on every single page view. Thanks again to rakshan for the help. |
