This is ridiculous, It's doing it again... OpenX Community Hosted is broken again... I can't believe it...

This is the fourth time in the past 3 weeks...

Can somebody at OpenX please look into this and try to come up with a solution?...

Bill

This just started for us late last night or this morning. It's odd how it now seems to be happening at different times for people.

Poke them at Twitter at @OpenX

Also email to hosted-support@openx.com

Other email addresses to send complaints to are:

hello@openx.com

tony.edwards@openx.com

The more people that report this problem the better chance that somebody will try to fix it.

The last time it happened was the day after Thanksgiving, which pretty much ruined my whole holiday weekend.

I'm starting to wonder if what's happening is that the openx server is getting hit by hackers during times when openx staff is off. That might explain why they never tell us what the underlying cause is. The times the service goes down always seems to be on weekends or holidays.

It has started working again for us. Came back online in the last 30-60 minutes. Is everyone else back up and running?

No. Its not resolved yet.

No Banners are displaying for us from more than a week now. You guys are lucky just having 1-2 days downtime.
I have already lost 2,500$. No hope for the fix. I am thinking to have my own server or shift somewhere else. You work so hard and when you start earning OpenX not delivering your banners and you know what THEIR SUPPORT IS WORLD'S BADDEST SUPPORT I HAVE EVER SEEN. (SORRY TO SAY)

I have sent them dozens emails but not get a single response. I have even reached their CEO / CTO / Account Manager and every person I know at OpenX. No one at OpenX take responsibility or try to fix things. I don't know why they don't care when they are loosing revenue in OpenX Market?

It may be that you have a totally different problem. One day last year all of our ads stopped. Not this sporadic stufff we've been seeing recently, but all of them.

I discovered after a bunch of trial and error what the problem was. The OpenX free solution will only handle so many banners per zone. After it gets beyond 20, the zones pretty much stop showing things. The trick is that if you don't manually detach banners from zones when they are done and delete old campaigns, then those banners will still be assigned to the zones even though they are greyed out and not running.

So, I created all new ad zones and assigned a few banners to each and the ads showed perfectly again.

What I do now is remove banners from zones immediately after the campaign is concluded. I also delete campaigns a week or so after they have run and I have the stats in hand for them.

This has now held up well for more than a year using this approach. That doesn't protect from this sporadic delivery issue, but this may be what your issue is since you said that "all" banners had stopped. The recent issue hasn't stopped all banners, just most of them.

Take a look at your zones on the inventory tab and see if they are overloaded with old greyed out banners from campaigns and, if so, try the solution above.

I appreciate your effort trying to help me. I have tried everything but none worked.
Yesterday the ads shown sporadically and generated 100,000 impressions out of 2-3 million expected.

How many impressions do you generate per day ?

Did any of you tried OpenX source on your server ? At least things get in your hands when you are running your ad server on your own. What you guys say ?

I have 2-3 friends from the same region having the same issue since last week. Why OpenX guys not fixing this ?
They have best technicians, They know their products more than anyone else then why its taking days and week to solve a issue ?

Your best bet is setting up Doubleclick for Small Business account. Google offers up to 90 million ad impressions a month for free.

I much prefer the OpenX system, so we use that, but we have a DFP backup so when OpenX is down, I cut over to DFP tags. DFP seems to serve less ads for us though, so we lose some revenue that way relative to OpenX, but it's better than nothing for during those downtimes.

I currently use Open X Source and have for several years with no (or few) issues.

I opened a open X hosted yesterday just to try it out. My hosted version is current and running and if I experience the issues some of you have experienced, it is easy to just switch back to the hosted invocation codes as I use SSI (Server Side Includes) for inserting the ad codes. Back to my server in 10 minutes. smile.gif

I thought I would try the hosted version as it might conserve space etc. and perhaps save me some time upgrading when a new version comes out.

Also, are you folks experiencing ad serving issues in general or only with OpenX Market?

In any case, if I can answer your questions on Open X Source. let me know.

You're losing that much money relying on a free service???
I moved to Adspeed back in April. The cost is minimal compared to the frustration of Openx free. Not one time down and they answer my questions usually in an hour or so. So easy to use also.
Thought I would stop in here and see if things have changed, they havent.

Well, looks like not much has changed.

We were using Hosted (pre-"OnRamp") about 5-years ago and it was a nightmare. We switched to a third-party service which was very responsive and reliable. However, they are closing next month. I logged-in here to see if the OpenX hosted service has improved as a possible solution . . . I have my answer.

Yea, I hear ya. I'll never go anywhere else now. I had a third party tag I couldn't figure out, sent the whole thing to Adspeed guy and he set it all up for me in like 30 minutes from the time I emailed it. Just had to assign my zones. Amazing service.
