Hi I am using a self-hosted OpenX server and would like to make use of the Maxmind GeoIp plugin.
So I have enabled geo-targeting from the admin-configurations module, uploaded the geo-ip like .dat files to my server and copied the file path (/home/danny888/geoip/GeoIP.dat) in the Path to geoipCountryLocation file field in the plugin settings. I then created 2 sets of campaigns. * campaign with all sets of banners for international visitors, category weight 1 - no delivery restrictions * campaign with all sets of banners for US only visitors , category weight 2 - delivery restrictions by Geo-Country to US only. I am not from the US and therefore I should always be served the international ads - that is working ok. I then used a US proxy with does resolve to US when tested on the maxmind online demo but the ads served were still the international ads. Is there anyone here who can help me in this regard? Thanks a lot Danny... |

I then created 2 sets of campaigns. * campaign with all sets of banners for international visitors, category weight 1 - no delivery restrictions * campaign with all sets of banners for US only visitors , category weight 2 - delivery restrictions by Geo-Country to US only. You are using banner weight incorrectly. Weight only changes the distribution between banners. In your example above, the international campaign banners will be served 1/3 of the time and the US will be served 2/3 of the time. What you're looking for is priority, not weight. Also, Every zone should have a remnant campaign. I suggest you setup the international campaign as remnant, and dont bother with the banner weights or priorities at all. |
